The Amsterdam Red Light District Takes On The Cure Song For Its Latest Single

Sept. 13 — The Amsterdam Red Light District is reaching to the past for its latest single.

The band premiered its cover of The Cure’s classic song, ‘A Forest‘ Friday.’ The new, updated take of the song stays true to its source material, at least in regard to sound. In regard to the stylistic approach though, TARLD goes in a distinctly different direction from its source material.

Where the original song is a brooding emo-nu-wave type of song, TARLD’s take on the song is an amped up arrangement. It is actually more comparable to works from Foo Fighters (for the most part) than The Cure. However, the moody, brooding opening and closing bars are more in line with The Cure’s original composition. That contrast makes the whole fully immersive and in turn, engaging and entertaining.

The debut of the Amsterdam Red Light District’s new single came almost three months after the debut of the band’s then latest single, ‘Social Sickness.’ Prior to its release the band premiered another single, ‘Black Smoke.‘
