Nov. 26 — Jason Charles Miller recently unveiled the video for his latest new album’s latest single.
Miller debuted the video for his single, ‘I Need a Rescue’ Nov. 21. The song is the latest single from Miller’s album, Knives in the Dark, which he released in August through independent record label, One Opportunity Records. The song’s premiere follows that of the album’s then latest single, ‘Digging in the Dust‘ this summer.
The video is a simple, straightforward presentation featuring Miller and his band mates performing the single on a sound stage dressed to resemble a live setting. It is a familiar approach for music videos in general.
Miller discussed the video’s treatment in a prepared statement.
“I wanted to have a video where we are all just jamming the song, really vibing with it, so having my live band be in the video along with Ellis [Hall, Jr.] was super important to me,” Miller said. “Our director Andrew Fogel found the perfect location, making us the ultimate ‘garage band.’ Talk about going back to your roots! You’ll notice a purple tinge to the entire video, as an easter egg and a nod to the biggest influencers of the song!”
The influencers in question that Miller references are the members of Deep Purple, of whom he also spoke in regard to the song’s creation.
“The song ‘I Need a Rescue’ accidentally became a tribute to Deep Purple – Mark 3 in particular, the David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes lineup that did the albums ‘Burn’ and ‘Stormbringer’,” Miller said. “I’ve often said that ‘Burn’ has been one of the most influential albums in my life, and I think it’s one of the best rock albums in history, period! Once Gary [Potter, guitarist] came up with the riff for ‘Rescue,’ the song basically wrote itself. I had become friendly with Ellis Hall through knowing his family, and he’s an absolute legend. What he added to the recording, with his B3 playing and amazing vocals, really took it over the top.”
Knives in the Dark is Jason Charles Miller’s fifth album. He has also worked on soundtracks for a variety of video game franchises including Final Fantasy. Speaking of which he is set to headline the Final Fantasy XIV Symphony Tour Thursday and Friday in Saudi Arabia. Following those performances, he will next perform Dec. 14 in Los Angeles, CA. The upcoming dates are part of a larger tour that launched Aug. 28 in Dewey Beach, DE.
