Memphis May Fire Announces New Album, Tour Details; Debuts New Single, Video

Jan. 9 — Memphis May Fire will tentatively release its next album this spring.

The band announced Thursday through a news release, it is scheduled to release its next album, Shapeshifter, March 28 through Rise Records. In anticipation of its release, the band unveiled the album’s latest single, ‘Overdose‘ and its companion video Thursday. The song is now the seventh single from the forthcoming album and features guest vocals from Blindside front man Christian Lindskog.

The song’s arrangement is an interesting blend of metalcore and melodic rock elements whose screams and clean vocals pair with its electronics, guitars and rhythm section to make a whole that is sure to keep listeners engaged and entertained.

According to front man Matty Mullins, the song’s lyrical theme centers on the topic that there can be some bad even from the highs in life.

“‘Overdose’ is about the intoxicating nature of extremes — how easy it is to get addicted to the highs of life, no matter the consequences,” Mullins said. “It’s a song for anyone who’s ever pushed boundaries too far, chased the rush, and grappled with the fallout.”

He said he was humbled to have Lindskog on board for the song.

“Christian Lindskog has always been a bucket list guest vocalist for me and it’s an absolute honor to have his iconic style gracing this track,” Mullins said.
