Up-and-coming punk outfit Empired debuted its new single this week.

The band opened the weekend with the premiere of its news single, ‘Just a Phase.’ The song’s musical arrangement is a sharp-edged, nearly three minute composition whose guitars and mournful vocal delivery make the work in whole an interesting presentation. One could argue that there is even something of an indie/college rock vibe about the presentation, making it an even more targeted work.

Guitarist/vocalist Bruce Zebal addressed the song’s all-too-familiar lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

“A hard hitting song with soulful verses and big choruses, ‘Just A Phase’ explores the end of a relationship,” Zebal said. “Is it for the better? Are we truly better off? Were we to blame for it ending? Nothing lasts forever and Empired celebrates that like the wake of a loved one.”

In other news, Empired has a handful of live dates planned beginning Apr. 24 in Grand Rapids, MI. The brief tour is scheduled to run through Apr. 26 in Dayton, OH. From there the band will rest and recharge before heading back out on the road may 31 for a trio of dates in California.
