Machine Head offered audiences a new preview of its forthcoming album over the weekend.
The preview came Friday in the form of the band’s new single, ‘Bonescraper‘ and the song’s companion video. The song’s musical arrangement is an engaging work whose heavier verses take established audiences back to the band’s early days. as with the single’s predecessor, ‘Unbound,‘ it is reminiscent of the songs featured in the band’s 1994 debut album, Burn My Eyes and that record’s follow-up, 1997’s The More Things Change… At the same time, the more melodic choruses make for a unique touch for the song that is far less commonplace for the band. That contrast, that duality, makes the song all the more engaging.
The band addressed the song’s familiar lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“This one is for those of us with darkness in our heart, a song about love lost, and a song for those who fail at love… but keep on trying… hence, we scrape our bones to numb the pain.” the statement reads.
The song’s video features the band performing its new single on a uniquely designed soundstage in part. The other portion of the video is something of a horror-type tale, or so it would seem. The new song plays over the visualization as the video plays out.
‘Bonescraper’ is the second single from Machine Head’s forthcoming album, Unatoned, which is scheduled for relese Apr. 25 through Nuclear Blast Records. The band premiered the album’s lead single, ‘Unbound‘ and the song’s companion video last month.
