June 9 — Exmortus opened the weekend with the premiere of the latest single from its forthcoming album.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Beyond The Grave‘ and its lyric video Friday. The song and its video are the third from the band’s forthcoming album, Necrophony, which is scheduled for release Aug. 25 through Nuclear Blast Records. The band premiered the album’s second single, ‘Mind of Metal‘ and its companion video in April. Their premiere was preceded by that of the record’s lead single, ‘Oathbreaker‘ late last year.
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single possesses all of the familiar thrash vibes of its predecessors from beginning to end. Its overall approach is different enough from the other singles that it still manages to boast its own identity, something audiences who listen closely will note.
According to front man Jadran “Conan” Gonzalez, the song’s lyrical theme was inspired by a well-known horror movie.
“Heavily inspired by the Evil Dead movies, this piece interprets the madness of possession with fast rhythms and licks on each instrument,” Gonzalez said. “We’re sure to have fun performing this one on tours to come.”
The song’s lyric video features the song over imagery, such as skeletons rising from the grave, what is meant to be an evil goat-headed creature and a moonlit cemetery. The band’s new single plays over the visualization as the video progresses.
In other news, Exmortus recently completed a brief spring tour alongside Paladin and Graveshadow along the West Coast. The band is scheduled to host a free concert July 17 in Los Angeles, CA at 1720.
