June 28 — Dragonforce front man Marc Hudson will release his new solo record next month.
Starbound Stories is scheduled for release Aug. 25 through Napalm Records. Hudson’s debut solo album will come as a result of a recently signed record deal that he signed with the label. Specifics of the deal were not announced in the news release announcing the new deal and more information.
In anticipation of the album’s release, Hudson premiered the video for the record’s lead single, ‘[Astralive]‘ Wednesday. The video features Hudson and his solo band members performing the new single in the middle of a mountainous desert setting as the song plays over the visualization.
The song’s musical arrangement is no surprise for longtime Dragonforce fans, as it boasts that same stylistic approach and sound. What’s more it is just as easily comparable to works from the likes of Battle Beast, Helion Prime and others of that ilk.
Hudson said in a prepared statement, the song’s lyrical theme is something of an existential rumination.
“’Astralive’ is the first single from the album and takes the listener on a power metal journey through space and time,” Hudson said. “This song explores the cosmic mysteries of the universe and mankind’s eternal search for wisdom beyond the stars.”
Starbound Stories will release digitally, on CD and on two separate vinyl pressings — a translucent blue pressing with 24-page booklet and recordbutler, and 180-gram black pressing.
