Aug. 31 — The Tragically Hip’s 1998 album, Phantom Power will get some renewed attention this fall thanks to the staff of Universal Music.
The band will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album’s original release — July 14, 1998 — with a vinyl expanded re-issue of the record Nov. 3 through Universal Music. The collection will release on a 5-LP collection, separate 3CD set, and standalone Blu-ray.
The 5-LP set will be composed of two double LP sets on 180-gram vinyl, with five previously unreleased tracks from the album’s recording sessions. In addition, two more LPs new to the collection will feature a concert the band held Oct. 2, 1998 at the Metropol in Pittsburgh, PA.
The set’s fifth LP features seven alternate takes of songs featured in the album.
The CD set will feature the original album and previously unreleased songs on its first disc. The second disc will feature the concert recording. The third disc will feature the noted alternate takes.
The Blu-ray platform will feature just the original album in a Atmos Mix.
