Jan. 26 — Independent rock duo Standards premiered its latest single and video this week.
The duo — Marcos Mena and Cam Mitchell — unveiled its new instrumental single, ‘Cosmos’ Friday, along with the song’s companion video. The song is the lead single from the duo’s forthcoming third album, Fruit Galaxy, which is scheduled for release March 22.
The musical arrangement featured in this latest offering from Standards is a catchy, light composition. Mena’s performance on guitar shines what with the use of the harmonics while Mitchell’s sharp fills and solid time keeping on the drums do just as much to engage and entertain listeners. The immediate comparison that can be made is to some elements of compositions from the likes of Scale The Summit.
Mena had the following to say of the new single:
“We couldn’t be more excited to unveil ‘Cosmos,’ as we feel it is our most ambitious song to date. We pushed the limits of our abilities to produce a song that we hope resonates with fans of catchy, guitar-driven music.”
The song’s video features Mena and Mitchell in a brightly lit apartment setting, performing their new single as computer generated fruit floats around the pair. Meanwhile the new song plays over the visualization.
In other news, Standards will serve as support for Elephant Gym on its upcoming North American headlining tour beginning March 1 in Dallas, TX. The bands’ run together is scheduled to run through March 16 in Vancouver, BC and includes stops across California and the Pacific Northwest.
