A new documentary centered on the history of punk rock will make its debut later this month.
DIY: The Rise And Fall And Rise of Punk Rock is set to premiere Apr. 25 at the Dallas International Film Festival. After making its premiere at what is one of America’s biggest Oscar-qualifying film festivals, a summer release plan will be considered.
The documentary, which is being presented by punk rock label SBAM Records, follows the rise of punk rock in 1980s Southern California to its current place in the echelons of not only music but also American culture. The presentation features commentary from members of well-known and respected punk acts, such as Bowling For Soup, Lagwagon, Goldfinger, NOFX, Bad Religion, and Circle Jerks. Even Star Trek; The Next Generation star Wil Wheaton and equally famed comedian and Portlandia star Fred Armisen are included in the presentation.
