ZZ Top is extending its “Elevation Tour.”

The band made the announcement Tuesday. In all, 21 new dates have been added to the tour, including stops in Eugene, OR; Barco, NC and Northfield, OH. The full, new schedule is available through ZZ Top’s official website. Presales open Wednesday and feneral sales begin Friday.

Last month, it was announced that drummer Frank Beard is temporarily stepping away from the band to address health concerns. The news release distributed at the time did not say for how long Beard would be away from the tour and what medical concerns were being addressed.

According to the document, band friend John Douglas was tapped to fill in for Beard while he is away. The replacement marks the second time the band has enlisted Douglas’ help. He also filled in for Beard in 2002 in Paris when Beard underwent an emergency appendectomy.

Beard’s latest health issues are not the first for the band. Bassist Dusty Hill died in July 21 following a hip injury. His bass tech, Elwood Francis was eventually tapped to permanently replace him in the band’s lineup.
