Details Announced For New John Lee Hooker Recording

Jan. 9 — Blues fans will get a special new treat this winter in the form of a new John Lee Hooker recording.

The Standard School Broadcast Recordings is scheduled for release Feb. 28 via BMG on vinyl, CD, and digital. Originally recorded in 1973 for the educational radio series, The Standard School Broadcast, the recording has never before been released. Among the most notable performances featured in the 8-song recording are the likes of ‘Should Have Been Gone’ (which was previously titled ‘I’m Leaving’), ‘Sally Mae, and ‘Hard Times’ (previously titled ‘No Shoes’).

‘Sally Mae’ and another performance, that of ‘Coast Recorders Jam,’ are bonus tracks that appear only on the recording’s CD and digital releases. Pre-orders are open. The recording’s track listing is noted below. Audiences can hear Hooker’s performance of ‘Rock With Me’ here.
